Core

The "core" of a cloth pad is the absorbent material sewn in to collect the menstrual flow.

This can be a smaller size than the size of the pad and is sometimes sewn to the top layer of the pad with channel lines, or can be sewn to a hidden layer inside the pad. This keeps the pad from feeling too bulky around the edges.

The pad can also be made from several layers of fabric that are the same size, in which case the internal layers would be referred to as the core.

The core of a cloth pad may be made from hemp, bamboo, cotton, flannel/flannelette, organic fabrics or synthetic microfiber
